We investigated the self‐aggregation of 12 short ionic oligopeptides constituted by 4–7 amino acid residues to establish useful structure–property relationships that might be exploited in the biomedical field by using the concept of molecular Lego. We show that the critical aggregation concentration (CAC) of tetrapeptides decreases with increasing hydrophobicity of neutral residues. Additionally, the dependence of the CAC of isomeric oligopeptides on the distribution of amino acid residues confirms the high tendency to self‐organization of molecules with alternating ionic and neutral residues. Indeed, atomic force microscopy (AFM) images recorded on oligopeptide solutions above the CAC show the presence of either fibrillar or spherical aggregates depending on oligopeptide structure and concentration, steric hindrance, solution pH, and time. The potential of the investigated oligopeptides in tissue engineering applications is supported by their in vitro cytocompatibility. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Herein, we report on the use of the iron pincer complex Iron‐MACHO‐BH, in the base‐free transfer hydrogenation of esters with EtOH as a hydrogen source. More than 20 substrates including aromatic and aliphatic esters and lactones were reduced affording the desired primary alcohols and diols with moderate to excellent isolated yields. It is also possible to reduce polyesters to the diols with this method, enabling a novel way of plastic recycling. Reduction of the renewable substrate methyl levulinate proceeds to form 1,4‐pentanediol directly. The yields are largely governed by the equilibrium between the alcohol and the ethyl ester. 相似文献

Use of ZrO2/SiO2 as a solid acid catalyst in the ring‐opening of biobased γ‐valerolactone with methanol in the gas phase leads to mixtures of methyl 2‐, 3‐, and 4‐pentenoate (MP) in over 95 % selectivity, containing a surprising 81 % of M4P. This process allows the application of a selective hydroformylation to this mixture to convert M4P into methyl 5‐formyl‐valerate (M5FV) with 90 % selectivity. The other isomers remain unreacted. Reductive amination of M5FV and ring‐closure to ?‐caprolactam in excellent yield had been reported before. The remaining mixture of 2‐ and 3‐MP was subjected to an isomerising methoxycarbonylation to dimethyl adipate in 91 % yield. 相似文献

The self-aggregation of two short ionic tetrapeptides (RWDW and RVDV, where R = arginine, V = valine, W = tryptophan, D = aspartic acid) was studied by different experimental techniques such as, atomic force microscopy (AFM), light scattering (LS), isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) and viscosimetry. AFM was used to investigate the morphology of the aggregates; the AFM images showed the presence of fibrillar aggregates whose number and length increased with increasing oligopeptides concentration. On the other hand, the collected experimental calorimetric and physical chemical results consistently indicated a critical aggregation concentration (cac) around 0.5 and 2.0 mM for RWDW and RVDV respectively. 相似文献

We prepared the PLGA‐loaded anti‐cancer drug and coated it with quantum dots to make it a dual‐function nanoparticles, and analyzed its potential use in cellular imaging and curing cancers. Two cancer cell lines, paclitaxel‐sensitive KB and paclitaxel‐resistant KB paclitaxel‐50 cervical carcinoma cells, were the relativistic models for analysis of the cytotoxicity of free paclitaxel and paclitaxel‐loaded PLGA conjugated with quantum‐dot nanoparticles. The paclitaxel‐loaded PLGA conjugated with quantum dots nanoparticles were significantly more cytotoxic than the free paclitaxel drug in paclitaxel‐resistant KB paclitaxel‐50 cells. This might have been because the cancer cells developed multi‐drug resistance (MDR), which hampered the action of free paclitaxel by pumping its molecules to extracellular areas. Addition of verapamil, a P‐glycoprotein inhibitor, reversed the MDR mechanism and significantly reduced KB paclitaxel‐50 cell viability. As a result, KB paclitaxel‐50 was highly associated with MDR on the cell membrane. The cytotoxicity results indicated that PLGA nanoparticles served as drug carriers and protected the drugs from MDR‐accelerated efflux. Combined quantum dots with PLGA nanoparticles allowed additional functionality for cellular imaging. 相似文献

The present study is concerned with the determination of the optimal shape for a package containing multiple heating elements.
The optimization tool has been developed based on the inverse heat transfer (IHT) approach, incorporating a direct problem
solver, a numerical grid generator, a direct-differentiation sensitivity analyzer, and the conjugate gradient method. Shape
design that leads to a specified outer surface temperature distribution is predicted by the approach. In this study, the effects
of internal heat generation on optimal shapes of the packagings have also been evaluated. Several practical cases with various
imbedded heating elements and thermal conditions are studied. Results show that the approach provides an efficient computer-aided
